Sport or Tech Diver?

The firmware can be operated in either the hwOS sport version for sport divers or the hwOS tech version for technical divers. Even if you initially choose the sport version, your OSTC will accompany you as you progress in technical diving. With a paid upgrade, you can enhance your OSTC to a full-featured Trimix computer. In the tech version, hwOS covers all applications of technical diving, from Trimix to rebreather diving. The sport version allows diving with five Nitrox-based gases and is a reliable companion even on challenging dives.

Extensive

Primarily, hwOS is aimed at technical divers and experienced sport divers who undertake demanding decompression dives. They can choose from two decompression models: the classic Bühlmann algorithm or the more modern version with gradient factors. The calculation models are configurable in detail and can be adapted to individual needs without restrictions. Rebreather divers can utilize calculations with fixed setpoints or oxygen monitoring via sensors. In addition to many other setting options, hwOS also offers a gauge and apnea mode, as well as a digital compass.

User-Friendly

Despite the extensive setting options, the hwOS menu is clearly structured and intuitive to use. All values are reliably preset and can be reset to default settings at any time. Both during dives and on land, the most important settings are always visible via the Custom View. Users are never patronized; the hwOS firmware does not impose penalties or mandatory dive breaks even if decompression limits are not met. The firmware operates with exceptional energy efficiency, resulting in unusually long operating times for the dive computers.

Transparent

The hwOS firmware is based on the open-source principle. The source code is open and can be viewed and used by anyone. This not only ensures maximum transparency but also offers a practical side effect: thanks to the broad support of the programmer community, user requests can be implemented more easily and bugs can be fixed faster. Programmers can write their own software modules and integrate them into hwOS.
