Description

The Difference

Robust and Reliable

The Remote Slave Unit RSU is a highly sensitive microprocessor-controlled photocell that can trigger underwater strobes from a long distance. Its field of application is creative pool, wreck, and cave photography. The RSU does not require a battery.

Range

With the RSU, distances of more than 25 meters can be bridged underwater under good conditions.

Function

When using the Remote Slave Unit, the pre-flash functions of the TTL system must be suppressed. This usually means an additional external strobe is required.

Compatibility

Which Strobes Can be Used?

Currently, all strobes with a 5-pin Nikonos connector and a flash-ready indicator, which is wired on the connector for power supply and provides at least 4 volts, are compatible. The trigger voltage may be up to 30 volts. If you have questions about this, we will gladly send you instructions to help you determine the compatibility of your strobe in advance. However, some experience with a voltmeter is essential.

For the RSU-I, all Ikelite DS models have been tested so far; presumably, all other Ikelite strobes also work. Please contact us if you have a non-DS Ikelite strobe.

Please note: The Sea&Sea strobes YS-D1, -D2, and -D3 do not provide the necessary voltages at the connector and are therefore not compatible with the RSU!
